Following the recent announcement of the 2017 official cut-off marks of all institutions by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), the board has equally disclosed the 2017 admission deadline. According to the information, admissions into public degree awarding institutions will end on January 15, 2018 while that of private institutions ends on January 31, 2018. Also, decisions on first choice candidates by universities will end on October 15, and that for second choice candidates will end on December 15. We do not know at the moment whether these timelines are for all the tertiary institutions (Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of education) as the statement did not indicate that. We do hope that JAMB gives clarification to this soonest. However, going by what was said by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Oloyede, institutions are to have a uniform admission deadline.

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, which began a meeting on Monday, has said it will formally announce a major new policy on Tuesday when the body is expected to conclude its ongoing deliberation. The meeting, which involves admission officers of Nigerian higher institutions, is taking place at the National Judicial Institute in Abuja. Issues being discussed at the meeting include the introduction of central admission processing system(CAPS) to ensure quality control, transparency and credibility of the admission process. The new policy is expected to make provision for a ‘market place’ in the JAMB portal where institutions can go and ‘request for students in Nigeria who score their cut off points.’ These institutions will write to JAMB to request for the students and also give them (students) three days to respond. 2017 May/June NABTEB results have been released – To Check your result, See details below.   The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has disclosed that it has released the May/June 2017 results for the National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations. This was made known by the Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer of NABTEB, Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe on Tuesday while addressing news men at the National Headquarters of the Board in Ikpoba Hill, Benin City, the Edo state capital. It was noted that this year’s result was an improvement of the previous year 2016. A breakdown of the results shows that a total of 58,448 candidates registered for the ordinary craft level examination in 1,458 centers across the country. She said, “33, 712 candidates representing 58.75% of candidates in the NBC/NTC examination scored five credits and above including English Language and Mathematics; whereas 47,360 candidates representing 8

Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), on Monday said it would not close the change of courses and institutions procedures, until 2017/2018 admission is concluded. JAMB’s Head of Public Relations, Fabian Benjamin, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bwari, FCT. Benjamin said it was wrong for any student to observe that the board would close the change of courses and institutions procedure soon. He advised candidates to avoid panic, but take time to make decision that is suitable for them, to secure admission into higher institutions.
