UPDATE: NECO says 52% fail to obtain five credits in Nov/Dec 2019 SSCE The National Examinations Council has released the 2019 November/December Senior School Certificate Examination, noting that only 48 per cent of candidates got five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics. The council said a comparative analysis of candidates who scored five credits and above in 2018 and 2019 showed a decline, being 62.48 per cent in 2018 as against 48.68 per cent in 2019. The council’s Registrar, Mr Abubakar Gana, on Thursday, in a release in Abuja, added that candidates’ involvement in various forms of malpractice in 2019 also increased with 17,004 cases recorded as against 12,084 cases in 2018. The council said a total of 29 subjects were written by 70,140 candidates and the results were now released 49 days later. NYSC Members Monthly Allowance Increased To N33,000

ICYMI: NYSC increases corps members’ allowance to N33,000 The Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, has said that corps members’ monthly allowance has been increased to N33,000. He said the Federal Government approved N33,000 in line with the new national minimum wage. Previously, the corps members were paid N19,800 as monthly allowance. According to a statement made available by NYSC on its Facebook page, the DG disclosed this while speaking to corps members at the NYSC Bauchi State Secretariat during his working visit to the State. Ibrahim explained that “contrary to the various amounts being circulated on the social media, the sum of N33,000 had been approved as the new rate.” He also said provision had been made for the new allowance in the year 2020 Budget, adding that payment would commence as soon as funds are released by the appropriate authorities. Revelations as JAMB stops admission into University of Abuja The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB)has confirmed that the ongoing admission of students at the University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has been halted over alleged infractions. An Economic Confidential investigation, published on Sunday, showed that the management led by Vice Chancellor Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah overlooked the Admission Committee of the University and allegedly contracted the admission process. The development caught the attention of JAMB, which ordered the university to suspend the 2019/2020 admission process for not meeting its guideline of uploading all admissions on the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS). Checks revealed that UNIABUJA Acceptance Fee for a newly admitted student which was N4,500 is now N30,000. JAMB shuts down 38 computer centres in Adamawa, Enugu JAMB shuts down 38 computer centres in Adamawa, Enugu _JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede._ The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has shut down 38 Computer Centres where candidates wishing to sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination ought to register. The affected centres are in Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Katsina, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ondo, Oyo and Rivers. Three centres in Adamawa, Delta and Enugu were also asked by JAMB to suspend the registration process over allegation of extortion of candidates either directly or by proxy. Four other CBT centres in Gombe, Niger, Osun, and Zamfara were directed to stop registration for technical deficiency during third party examination. Some suspects were handed over to security agencies at the JAMB headquarters in Bwari, Abuja, on Wednesday.
